Dynamic is Just a Launching Point with the 2018 Ford F-150

If you have heard of the 2018 Ford F-150, you likely have taken note of class-leading capability mentions and how explosive this full-sized Ford pickup truck can be in the workplace. And while these areas are certainly instrumental in the common Ford truck enthusiast's experience, this is merely the beginning when considering what makes the F-150 such a unique option.

2018 Ford F-150

The new 2018 Ford F-150 comes with tons of options and the fierce performance to get any job done. There are four different types of engines to choose from that provide up to 22 miles to the gallon on the road. The F-150 has a sleek modern look with heavy-duty aluminum panels and an aluminum bed making for a sturdy vehicle that is lightweight but also tough. The F-150 also offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist in order to help the driver control their load better and it offers a towing capacity of up to 10,800 pounds.

Not only is the new Ford F-150 tough enough to be used on a worksite it also has a luxurious feel to it. It is one of the best models out there on the Monongalia County, Marion County and Preston County roads.

New with the 2018 Ford F-150

A 3.3-liter V6 engine replaces the 3.5-liter engine from last year's model and is more powerful than before despite offering better gas mileage. The new model also gives you the option of a 2.7-liter or a 5.0-liter V8 version and both of these versions come with a 10-speed automatic. The engines have been fine-tuned to give the owner more power behind the wheel and the truck itself has been revised so that it looks sleeker. The front and rear end are more noticeable in the redesign. As for a diesel engine, this too is becoming an option.

There are many different options to choose from with the new F-150 so that you can customize yours to your specifications. Ford offers the ability to choose your own color, there are many powertrains, cabs, beds, and features from which to choose.

Work Trucks

Below is a breakdown of the different options for the work truck versions of the 2018 Ford F-150.

  • The XL and XLT models get three-bed size options (5x6, 6x6, 8-foot), three cab configurations (Regular, SuperCab, SuperCrew), a 6 or 10-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel-drive, 17-inch wheels, vinyl floors, manual locks, flip-up seats, four-door cab and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
  • The XLT model includes all features from the XL and adds power locks, power windows, cloth front seats, chrome bumpers and a CD player.

For those who want to be able to make a more custom work vehicle the best option is the XLT model because of the extensive list of options you can choose from.

Luxury F-150s

If you keep going up the model line you find the Lariat model the next step above the XLT model. The Lariat is available with a V6 turbo or a V8 engine and has two options when it comes to the cab - the SuperCab and the SuperCrew. Some of the other features that come standard in the Lariat are keyless entry, an 8-inch display screen, and a rearview camera. If you continue on to its optional features that lets you choose the Sony premium audio system, cruise control that is adaptive, park assist and heated rear seats.

Moving on to the next level in luxury, the King Ranch, there are even more options. The King Ranch features a two-tone paint job, seats that are heated in both the front and rear, leather seats, power adjustable front seats and chrome accents on the exterior. You can choose between a V8 engine and a V6 3.5-liter engine.

The Platinum model of the 2018 Ford F-150 comes standard with LED headlights, power running boards, a tailgate release, blind spot monitoring and 20-inch wheels. In addition to all these features you also get heated and cooled front seats, rear seat belts that inflate, a beautiful wood trim, a navigation system and, last but not least, remote start.

When looking for a vehicle that provides both performance and style, Ford is the brand to purchase. Ford has changed the base F-150 to allow for a powerful yet quiet engine with high fuel economy. This has been done by shrinking the engine size, offering higher horsepower at 290 hp when paired with the 6-speed automatic carryover.

If you are looking for an upgrade that provides a lot of power, consider the EcoBoost. It is a smaller engine yet still gives the driver the ability to haul 2,500 pounds and tow 8,500 pounds.

If the driver misses the heightened sound of the V8, the revised available 5.0-liter V8 model guarantees satisfaction. Due to an upgraded transmission, it has a heightened horsepower of 395.

While the top model is the F-150 Raptor, the next best option is the turbocharged V6 engine that is turbocharged to carry nearly the same strength of the Raptor. While it is second best to the Raptor, it performs far better than the V8 engines of both Chevrolet and Ram.

If you need to haul a lot of weight, the F-150 is for you. It has the ability to draw 12,000 pounds and equalizes power at high RPMs.

When on the road, Ford F-150s are one of the most recognizable vehicles. They seem to be everywhere, and their performance explains why this is so. The minor 2018 changes further enhance the look and ride of the truck.

One of the main cosmetic changes to the design focuses on both ends of the truck. The grille has similarities to the Super Duty, as too the bumper. This new design adds two bars running horizontally. If the user decides against this look, there are various packages available to customize the look. The STX design features a black mesh rather than the two bars. Also, there are improved headlights to heighten visibility and aesthetic appeal. These are shaped like moons and merge with the current two-bar design.

Not only are the changes meant to be visually appealing, they also add to the functionality of the truck. It is far more aerodynamic thanks to the streamlined design and smooth edges allowing for better airflow and gas mileage.

The different design packages can be differentiated based on the stampings on the rear of the truck. These are used to identify the various trims.

As seen from the information above, it is apparent that there are many changes to the Ford F-150 in 2018. They are strong improvements that will heighten the success of the best-selling truck and provide the best ride for its drivers.
